Farmers Win Only Because of Election Politics

it just keeps coming at us . . .

President Obama and his minions throughout the Federal Government for the past 2 ½ years have basically viewed our lives as their personal chess pieces by implementing regulation after regulation after regulation. If it moves, Obama-ites theorize, either implement new regulates or pile on to those already in place.  

Among the recently proposed was to make farmers who operated tractors, combines and semi tractors on rural roads, get a commercial driver’s license like professional truck drivers.

You can only imagine what the great majority of farmers thought about this one. They can be a rather independent and conservative lot.

But something happened on the way to the barn. The Feds have announced that they have changed their collectivist minds and so, "never mind"!

Did pressure from farm state Senators become too great or did folks in the Obama 2012 campaign cabal in Chicago realize they had just given Republicans a fat, hanging curve ball that could easily be swatted out of the park? I don't think they give a hoot about farmers, rather, I imagine they could envision a campaign ad by Republicans that even soccer moms could relate to and drive their suspicion and dislike even further lower of Obama.

When your poll numbers are already in the tank, the last thing you need to do is give opponents more political fodder and further re-enforce a doubting electorate.

Regardless of why, thankfully this one has gone by the way side. One down and hundreds of thousands to go . . .

EPA Decides U.S. Hasn't Lost Enough Jobs

Got to hand it to the folks at Obama's Enviromental Protection Agency, they sure know how to kill jobs and increase our family budgets.

Click here to read and I must say it's a must read on the EPA's new edict that will ultimately cost each of us thousands of dollars in our family budgets. These folks are flipping idiots!

In Nebraska, this has to have some impact on the Gerald Gentleman Power plant. NPPD aka Nebraska Public Power District describes GGS this way on its web site:

"Gerald Gentleman Station (GGS) is Nebraska's largest generating plant. Located near Sutherland, Nebraska, the plant consists of two coal-fired generating units, which together have the capability to generate 1,365 megawatts of power. While NPPD can place the awards in a showcase, NPPD's customers are the real winners. In addition to generation records, plant employees also continue to set safety records. In recent years, Gerald Gentleman Station has been recognized by Platts Power magazine as the lowest cost coal-fired producer in America."

Well, now, we can't have any more of that "lowest cost coal-fired producer in America" stuff. Nope, Obama's EPA says heck with low cost, we need to save, well, we think all this new cost will save . . . well, we aren't really sure but the Tree-huggers in the EPA say it's good for us so suck it up and live with it. So do it because those of us in the Bureaucratic State or B.S. for short, in Washington DC of course know what is best for you poor unwashed minions out in the hither land.

My gosh, when will this nightmare be over . . .

Do As I Say, Not As I Do

this group in the White House is just a piece of work . . .

I don't know about you but I'm reaching my saturation point where Obama and members of his administration tell us how we should go "green" and how wind mills will save the world.

The latest episode involves our dear transportation secretary Ray LaHood. In the on-line site Jalopnik, Justin Hyde reports that Mr. LaHood was out and about recently promoting new "fuel-economy window stickers". There was just one problem as you will see by clicking here for the article.

As someone once said, "Inept from start to finish" . . . 

Best Perscription For Our Economy

and then there was nothing happening, the sounds of silence . . .

What business hates most is the unknown. They need to know the ground rules in order to plan for the future. The White House and the Liberals in Congress have so poisoned the environment that it has really caused a man-made disaster out of our economy. (that's turning Liberal phraseology back on them!)

This group has shown that they will use or abuse the power of the Federal Government to take over auto companies and in the process put Labor in charge and tell pension managers for teachers and everyday working people to go take a hike.

This group has piled up more debt in two years than all other Presidents combined!

This group has shown that it will shove through an outrageous and ruinous overhaul of our health care system despite the wishes of the majority of Americans. This group is going to let the Bush tax cuts expire in January thereby increasing everyone taxes and when it comes to business, do these Libs know who creates jobs??? This group thinks we can just stop using oil and replace it with wind energy and electric cars tomorrow.

This group refuses to take control of our borders thereby allowing a modern slave trade of Mexican citizens occur in this country and at the same time turn Phoenix into the kidnapping capitol of the world.

This group turns down offers from countries around the world to help keep millions of gallons of oil  from rolling up onto the beaches of Gulf Coast states because Big Labor won't allow it to rescind a law from the 1920's.

This group basically closes down NASA to future space missions and instead makes it's priority mission  an out-reach program to Muslim nations.

This is just a few of the numerous Liberal moves made by the Obama, Reid and Pelosi.

Well let me tell you what is the best and quickest solution to get this economy back on solid ground.

If Republicans can retake the House and Senate that would be the best news we've had in three years. With Republicans controlling both houses, NOTHING GETS DONE! Congress won't pass anything Obama wants and Obama will veto anything the Republicans want and they won't have enough votes in most cases to override.

And that folks is the best news business can hear. At least then, they can plan. 

I predict if the Republicans would do this on election day, you would see the stock market  react positively and the over all economic climate would turn positive as we head into the spring.

November 2nd can not get here quick enough for working Americans.

Nature Has A Way of Taking Care of Its Own

It has to be disheartening to the Environmental movement and such groups as the National Resource Defense Council when we humans are reminded that our plant has cycles and has a way of bringing itself back into balance without lawsuits or attorneys or Birkenstockers protesting.

Case in points in Lake McConaughy in the western part of our state, Nebraska. Winter run offs over the past decade have been reduced along with the normal irrigation(producing food so folks can eat!) that goes on in the panhandle each summer. Those two elements along with generally drier than normal conditions in that area contributed to Lake McConaughy lowering substantially.

But now, life has cycled into a new time and water has become abundant as the Omaha World-Herald reports today by clicking here.

when will politicians get it . . .

The President had an opportunity Tuesday night to treat the American people as adults. Instead, once again Mr. Obama took the approach that we are a bunch of stupid fools who will take any of Obama's words written on a teleprompter and believe them.

The President should have told us that he screwed up, he underestimated the severity of the problem, all responsibility lies with me and here is what we are going to do going forward. Instead, we got:

"From the very beginning of this crisis, the federal government has been in charge of the largest environmental cleanup effort in our nation's history "

Really?

I'm mean REALLY?

Are you serious Mr. President?

If so then your teleprompter is telling the American people that our Federal Government is a bunch of buffoons. You are going to look us straight in our collective eyes and tell us that you and your Federal bureaucrats have done a good job.

Mr. President, you have seen the pictures right? And that's what you classify as being in charge from DAY ONE?

I see . . .

So I guess the American people can see what happens when the federal government  has been right there from day one "in charge of the largest environmental cleanup" in our history.

Ironically, there is a lesson here but not one the President wanted us to learn Tuesday night. The lesson is if the President is proud of how his Feds have handled the "largest" environmental mess, then we now have a very good visual of what the Obama Government will do when it implements Obamacare and takes over 1/6 of our economy.

Boy, I'm not sure Americans can take much more of this Hope and Change . . . 

Obama Is Going to Lead Us To Energy Independence

man, I feel much better knowing this . . .

President Obama is trying to get people to forget about his complete incompetence in response to the Gulf Oil gusher by telling us all yesterday that he will lead us to clean energy.

Americans are getting much smarter when it comes to Obama and his Leftist policies so with that in mind, let's look at what is in our future if Obama is allowed to implement such a policy.

Obama and his fellow Leftist put the Federal Government at the center of any policy. So let's look at a such a current program to see what's in line for us:

Electric car subsidies. Both ObamaMotors' (formerly know as General Motors) Volt and Nissan's Leaf electric cars will enter the market at the end of this year. Nissan recently announced that its Leaf will cost $25,280.

Wow you would say, that's very reasonable to help save the Earth. But with all Leftist policies, we've learned to look past the bling and at the fine print. And what do we find? The American Taxpayer!

OMG what a surprise - we the taxpayers are subsidizing electric cars.

Moms and dads across the country will be subsidizing electric cars to the tune of $7,500 per car. Nissan has announced it will make its first deliveries in the states of California, Tennessee and Georgia. Why is that?

Well that's because taxpayers in those states are going to chip in $5,000 in "consumer tax credits" per electric car. So if you remove the tax dollars that each of us is throwing at each electric car and then add in what state tax payers are contributing, the cost of a Nissan Leaf increases to $37,780!

Oh, and there's this to add in. Buyers of ObamaMotors' Volt and Nissan's Leaf have to buy a charging station which will cost $2,200 but again, the fine taxpayers of the country will cover half of the cost.

So let's add this up. Taxpayers in Nebraska for example, will help cover $9,900 on each electric car AND taxpayers in the states of California, Tennessee and Georgia will see their share increase to $11,000 per electric car. If I remember right, the state of California is broke and it's unemployment rate is in double digits but hey man, we've got to save the earth and longfin smelts fish and trees . . .

And now, let me point out a provision in the policy that only politicians in Washington and their bureaucrats in the various agencies can come up with:

Neither car will make a profit for its maker which prior to Obama, was the goal for companies. Instead, under Federal statute part of the cost of each electric car will be charged to ObamaMotors and Nissan's pickup and SUV operations since electric cars create "head room under the EPA's rules" that allow each company to sell more pickups and SUVs which are each company's biggest sellers yet  on the eco-enemies hit list. 

So Obama's idea of moving us to clean energy is that car manufacturers build electric cars that no one wants and that taxpayers will subsidize and by doing so Obama will allow manufacturers to build more SUV and pickups which use more of that bad old substance gasoline.

Yet another fine example of Hope and Change . . . 

Today is The Favorite Day of the Year for Democrats

It's Tax Day. Yippee. THIS is what Obama style democracy is all about APRIL 15th!!!!!!!!!!

Rejoice, rejoice it's the Arrogant One's Day of Redistribution. In fact, from this day forth, April 15th will be know as

REDISTRIBUTION DAY

I'm sure Nancy and Harry are working on this being a national holiday in honor of the Arrogant One.

but gasoline prices are heading toward $3.00 a gallon.

Anyone notice that gas prices have been climbing? According to the Department of Energy, we are paying more at the pump right now than we have since November 2008 when we were coming off those record breaking high summer gas prices.

Indications are that even higher gasoline prices are ahead.

Gosh, this Obama economic and green energy strategy is really working wonders for the American people. Whatever glimmer of Hope that White House economists see in our economy could quickly Change to naught if gas prices continue to rise past the 3-dollar mark.

UPDATE: I guess my timing was a bit ironic as the Omaha World-Herald has as its lead story today on the increase in gas prices.

Tree Huggers Reduce Tax Revenues Across The Country

who'd of thunk it . . .

It's finally happening, Americans are driving less and do so in more fuel efficient cars and we have our friends in the Environmentalist Wacko movement to thank. Yes, they have finally gotten what they have dreamed of for years, heck generations.

I think we can all agree that it's good that we are improving our fuel efficiency, I don't think anyone quibbles with that goal.

Now, I'm sure what is coming as quite a shock to our friends on the Left is that they also are responsible for cutting tax receipts through their efforts! Yes, let that one sink in for a second. The Left who worship at the alter of the almighty Tax Increase reduced tax receipts? 

You see automobiles are more fuel-efficient, people are driving less and, increasingly in many parts of the country, they are driving automobiles that aren’t powered by petroleum at all. The result is less fuel being used consequently less tax being paid. Add in the Obama-economic-malaise that we are still in and you will find states across the country and Mr. Obama's and his Democrats in Congress scrambling in the wake of large revenue shortfalls into the various state and federal highway coffers.

So what an interesting web we weave. The Left pushes for efficiency never realizing that in doing so it reduces the mother's milk of it's movement - TAX RECEIPTS.

So it will be interesting to watch the Left's allies in Washington and throughout the state legislatures try to find a solution to this revenue shortfall. In Washington, they might want to start by ending the current diversion of 25% of the gas-tax funds to non-highway building projects such as Amtrak and metro busing; streetcar and subway budgets. These are all local responsibilities not federal but then again, Obama and the Dems think everything is Federal because they are smarter than the rest of local folk.

How ironic this all is.
