the reality on the ground is not good . . .
The latest data released over the past week is just re-enforcing what the American people are experiencing.
If the economy is recovery, we ARE NOT SEEING IT
I go back to what I've said before, it you haven't been laid off, then you know someone who has. The jobs climate is the single largest factor weighing down this economy. With the uncertainty that your job may end tomorrow, folks across the country are hunkering down.
And feeding this hunkering-down-syndrome is the complete and utter insanity that we all see going on in Washington DC. No one, no business, none of us have much to feel very secure when the folks in Washington DC have decided that our lives are just toys in their sandbox with which they can do what ever they want, forgetting that they serve at our discretion, not the other way around.
Here's some facts:
- unemployment reached 10.2% in October-highest in 26 years
- 1 in 5 Americans is either unemployed or under-employed
- manufacturing production fell in October-first decrease since June
- total housing starts plunged 10.6% from September number which was anything to write home about
- CNN poll shows 82% say economic conditions are poor
This is when we need real leadership in Washington to settle the nerves and provide hope for the future. Unfortunately it's becoming very clear to Americans that our "Hope and Change" President is just an empty vessel focused entirely on his ego.
