just an amazingly ignorant statement by our Democrat U.S. Senator . . .
In Sunday's Omaha World-Herald, Nebraska's Democrat U.S. Senator Ben Nelson had a letter in the "Public Pulse" section. I can not link to it on the O-W-H web site as they don't have those available. but if you have a copy of the Midland's Section of Sunday's paper, the letter is entitled, "A tax break on clunkers".
Basically, the Democrat is responding to an O-W-H article that talked about how anyone utilizing the "cash-for-clunkers" program would see a state tax based on the value of the voucher.
The Nebraska Democrat then said that there is "an important tax break contained" in the Stimulus bill that passed in February. You remember the Stimulus/Porkulus bill, that's the one where we tax payers got soaked by our representatives in Washington to the tune of almost $800-billion. And as I pointed out in a blog entry on Friday entitled "Nebraskans Need to Hold Ben Nelson's Feet to the Fire Over Stimulus Bill", Ben Nelson was THE reason this Porkulus bill passed as he forged the coalition in the Senate to get it passed.
Where Nelson's letter turned ignorant was his fourth paragraph which states:
"I fought to include targeted tax relief in the Recovery Act(note he doesn't use the term Stimulus Plan) because it enables people to help spend the economy to recovery so the government doesn't have to."
Now let me repeat that last part again:
" . . . it enables people to help spend the economy to recovery so the government doesn't have to."Now if that isn't one of the most ignorant statements I've heard.
Again, this is the man who personally is responsible for the Porkulus bill getting passed in February. By the way Senator Nelson, you might have seen the polls where the majority of Americans would like it repealed and the money not spent.
But to be fair, we need to give Nelson's statement it's due. So let's outline all the ways the Porkulus bill, sorry the Recovery Act "enables people to help spend the economy to recovery so the government doesn't have to."
The answer is . . . THERE IS NO WAY IT DOES THAT Mr. Nelson.
So, let's face the real conditions on the ground Senator Nelson. You have personally helped this President in just eight short months create the largest U.S. debt ever. In fact, Mr. Nelson, you and the President have created more debt in that time period than all the other Presidents combined!!! I guess that's the type of Change you, Mr. Nelson, can believe in.
Thomas Jefferson warned us about guys like you when he said, "If we can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people, under the pretense of taking care of them, they must become happy."
Mr. Nelson, we are not happy with you so get it together or step aside or we will move you aside in 2012.
